Ancient Symbolism of the Phoenix - Akh body

Today, I was inspired to share some insights on some of the symbols for one of my favorite scrolls.

The image presented is one representation of the Phoenix rising. As you can see, it’s quite a busy image. There are so many directions I can go in!

There are four pairs of birds, each representing the Yin and Yang version of the bird. We then have a beautiful tree and the majestic Phoenix.

This bird is linked to the Egyptian Akh, or Bennu bird, which is the highest of the Spiritual Bodies.

The four birds represent the four planes of existence: the physical, the astral, the mental, and the spiritual. Two aspects of each plane. Here, we see the eight, representing Harmonic Resonance - also indicating the dictum ‘As Above, So Below.’

This beautiful image definitely speaks about renewal, death, and rebirth, the cycles of Life. It is associated with the Akh, the Bennu, and the Ben Ben, which are symbols linked to Osiris.

If you notice the tree, this is the tamarisk tree, which reminds me of the Djed pillar. The pillar has four lines across the central line, representing, here too, the four planes of existence.

The ‘work’ is the balancing of polarities, the Yin and Yang aspects through the Djed, which is our physical body - the sacred container for the highest spiritual light to rise, to come forth, showing the deep, evolving connection between all planes, communicating with all dimensions simultaneously.

He is displaying beautiful red and golden feathers, which represent the most precious, highest quality of vibration that we hold. He is proud with his chest open, facing the sun, wings beginning to open in reverence and honor of the process of Becoming.

As you can see, this process is something that happens beyond the mental plane, beyond thinking.

It’s so amazing and lovely for me to see all these correlations between East Asian symbolism and the ancient people of Egypt, of the land of Khem, and even prior to that.
